We have a patron!!!

This is what Martyn says:

I am very, very proud to accept the offer of being Patron of Under The Stars. I met Ruth and Carl recently and was bowled over by their vision and resourcefulness - when I visited the website I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the video showing their event moved me to tears.

I think that this is a fantastic , highly-motivated and right-minded enterprise which deserves the support and encouragement of everyone. The joy shown by all concerned and the confidence and sense of normality engendered by something as simple and beautiful as this is second to none, and I urge everyone to help and get on board with this fantastic idea.

I have the utmost admiration for the organization and volunteers who run the project, and for the Hubs for helping out too.

I’ll be doing my best to spread the word in the music and dance fraternity, and hopefully we can have a lot of fun together helping Under The Stars to raise some more funds and continue to grow their excellent work.

I’ll be at one of the forthcoming events soon, and will be DJing at a special event early next year.

Let’s make Under The Stars and even bigger success

Stay Up Late campaign

Under the stars are supporters of the 'Stay Up Late campaign'. We see people leaving the nightclub at 9.00pm and we think that they want to stay longer but can't get the right support to do this. The Stay up Late campaign wants to get people the right support so that they can stay out for as long as they want.

This needs to be done in two ways:

  • We want people with a learning disability to know they can stay up late.
  • We want support workers to work different hours so that people with a learning disability can Stay Up Late. We know support workers do not mind working different hours, as long as they have enough time to plan.
